During this unit, my understanding of artistic space has improved and broadened. Before, I thought of only 3D space as artistic space. However now I know that it includes the way items are laid out in a 2D artwork and also includes perspective. I learned how to use artistic space to make artwork more realistic and use perspective to change the way a piece looks.
The most helpful exercise was learning how to use a vanishing point to create a realistic scale and perspective. This made me think more about how different objects look different depending on the angle and lighting and ended up helping to create a realistic looking final project.
I think that my final project was successful because it turned out to be how we planned it to be. The zebra looked similar to the picture we used as a guide and the x's of tape proved to give it an interesting perspective from different angles. My group members and I greatly enjoyed completing our project and we really like how it turned out.
